Management

Richard L. Jackson,
President & Chief Executive Officer
Jackson Healthcare

With more than 30 years of health care staffing experience, Richard L. Jackson is an industry pioneer. In 1978 he founded Jackson & Coker (J&C), which, over the next decade, became the nation’s largest physician search firm and its seventh-largest executive search company. He sold J&C in 1989.
Jackson’s profound understanding of the complex relationship between the physician and the business person has paved the way for his extraordinary accomplishments in developing highly regarded, successful healthcare companies. He believes that the physician is critical to the clinical and financial success of any healthcare organization. This has led him to develop several leading physician staffing and practice management companies. In 2006, Jackson bought JC Nationwide and changed its name back to its original name of Jackson & Coker.

Currently Jackson is chief executive officer of Jackson Healthcare, which ranked ninth on Staffing Industry Analysts’ list of “Top U.S. Healthcare Staffing Providers,” May 31, 2007. JH was included in Entrepreneur magazine’s 2007 list of the “Hot 500” U.S. entrepreneurial companies. The company also was named to the Inc. 500 list of the fastest-growing private U.S. companies in 2004—and to the Inc. 5000 in 2007 as one of the top 100 healthcare companies.

In both 2006 and 2007 Jackson was a southeast regional finalist for Ernst and Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year Award. JH has been included for the last three years on Atlanta Business Chronicle’s list of “Pacesetters,” or Atlanta’s fastest-growing private companies. JH ranked number 7 on that list in 2007. In 2005 and 2007 Atlanta Business Chronicle named Jackson Healthcare to its annual list of “Atlanta’s Best Employers” based on an independent employee survey. JH ranked seventh on that list in 2007.

An expert in health care trends, Richard Jackson has been quoted in more than 100 health care and business publications including the Wall Street Journal, Modern Healthcare, Health Business, Hospitals & Health Networks, Physician Financial News, Health Management Technology, Atlanta Business Chronicle and Smart Business Atlanta.
